About Southway Housing Trust

At Southway Housing Trust, we are a community-based housing association with a vision to provide excellent customer service and quality homes, where communities thrive. Established in 2007 following a stock transfer from Manchester City Council, we manage more than 6,700 homes and are committed to helping residents and neighbourhoods thrive. Our work goes beyond housing alone — we focus on creating opportunities, improving wellbeing and supporting sustainable communities through investment in homes, services and local partnerships. With a strong local identity and social purpose, we continue to deliver services that place residents and communities at the centre of everything we do. By 2030, we aim to grow to 10,000 homes, invest £5 million in our communities and plan to build around 1,300 affordable homes.

Our Manchester presence

South Manchester is at the heart of our organisation and the communities we serve. We manage homes across areas including Burnage, Chorlton, Didsbury, Fallowfield, Levenshulme and Withington, working closely with residents, local authorities and community partners to respond to local priorities and housing needs. We play an active role in supporting neighbourhood regeneration, sustainability and community development across Manchester. Alongside investing in existing homes and services, we continue to support the delivery of new affordable housing to help meet demand and create stronger, more connected communities across the city.

Supporting our communities

Supporting local people and communities is central to our mission at Southway Housing Trust. Alongside providing affordable homes, we deliver a wide range of initiatives focused on employment, skills, financial wellbeing, health and community inclusion. We work with local organisations and partners to provide support services, advice and opportunities that help residents improve quality of life and maintain independence. Through community investment programmes and neighbourhood initiatives, we help create safer, healthier and more resilient communities across South Manchester. By reinvesting into homes, people and places, we continue to create positive social impact for residents and neighbourhoods throughout the city.
