An innovative partnership between housing association Home Group and United Utilities is to provide customers with more than £200,000 in savings on their water bills.
The housing association worked with the utility provider to ensure data was matched up correctly and identify any households which were eligible for a low income discount.

These discounts provide a reduction to the cost of a customer’s water bill and will be deducted directly from their bill.

Through the exercise, Home Group and United Utilities were able to identify a significant number of customers who were eligible for the discount in 2025, as well as further households eligible in 2026.

In total, 4,270 customers will now have the low income discount applied to their accounts.

This translates to £213,500 in direct financial support to customers across the North West of England.

Mark Calvert, Financial Inclusion Manager at Home Group said:

“We are delighted to have been able to work with United Utilities to secure these discounts for our customers. Ensuring our customers receive the financial support they are entitled to is extremely important, and these reductions will hopefully make a big difference. Our team is always looking at ways we can support our customers and maximise their available income.”
