About this group
The Homelessness Group supports the delivery of Manchester’s Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy by bringing together housing providers and partners to prevent homelessness and improve outcomes for residents at risk. The group focuses on partnership action to reduce rough sleeping, improve tenancy sustainment and increase access to suitable housing.
The group promotes collaborative approaches across the housing sector to help minimise evictions, reduce temporary accommodation use and support residents experiencing homelessness. It also ensures lived experience and voluntary sector insight help shape services and responses.
The group aims to:
- Prevent homelessness through tenancy sustainment and early intervention.
- Reduce rough sleeping and reliance on temporary accommodation.
- Promote person-centred approaches informed by lived experience.
- Improve access to affordable and suitable housing.
- Support better outcomes for residents at risk of homelessness.
- Coordinate homelessness initiatives and partnership activity across Manchester.
